OIL CONTENT MONITOR CALIBRATION

GMG Systems provides repair, calibration and certification for most oil content monitors. Ordinary turnaround from receipt of an OCM through dispatch is about 10 working days depending on prior committments and needed repairs involved.

Oil Content Monitors from prior regulation MEPC 60(33) are NOT compatible with oily water separators under MEPC 107(49) and vice versa. The main difference is due to the fact that oily water separators under MEPC 107(49) must be able to break emulsions, and units manufactured under MEPC 60(33) were not. Therefore the oil content monitors are completely different in configuration inasmuch as 60(33) OCM's require an 'analog' physical calibration, versus monitors that are certified to MEPC 107(49) which required a software logorithmic calibration all occuring within the cell itself.

Prior regulation OCM's [IMO regulation MEPC 60(33)]: Shimadzu ET35A, Fellow Kogyo Focas 1500C, Rivertrace OCD-CM, Deckma OMD-(11, 15, 17)

Current regulation OCM's [IMO regulation MEPC 107(49)]: Brannstroms BilgMon 488, Deckma OMD-(24, 2005, 2008), Rivertrace Smartcell

We recommend yearly calibration of oil content monitors, as accidental discharge of oil can be a criminal offense, so why chance it.

The US Gov't has set mandates that require the fleets of its branches (Navy, US Coast Guard) to calibrate OCM's each 2000 hours or 2 years which ever occurs first. However, in practice, almost all vessels calibrate yearly.

If your unit is in need of repair in order to meet OEM specifications, we will obtain your prior authorization before commencing repairs.
